When it comes to making the passage of life unto death, the Catholic Church has a rich history of tradition. The funeral rites in the Catholic tradition are more than just a way of saying goodbye to a loved one; they are a testament to our belief in the resurrection and eternal life.
The Corporal Works of Mercy call us to bury the dead. As we grieve and mourn, we can sometimes be overwhelmed with the details surrounding the Funeral Mass and the reception afterwards.
In years past, Most Blessed Sacrament had a thriving Funeral Committee that provided hospitality and support to families during this difficult time.
A group is being formed to revitalize this committee and return to accompanying those who have lost loved ones and are having a Funeral at Most Blessed Sacrament. We are looking to form a call list of 20 or more parishioners, women and men, to work in teams at the visitation, Mass, and luncheon. All you need to provide is a few hours of your time and a welcoming smile.
If the Corporal Works of Mercy and/or the gift of hospitality are close to your heart, please consider joining this vital group of individuals.
