"He who sings prays twice." - Saint Augustine
Our choir currently consists of about 25 dedicated parish members under the direction of long time parish organist and pianist, Marshall Potter. They join their voices in song for weekend liturgies (mostly Sunday mornings), Christmas, Easter Triduum, solemn masses and select feast and holy days during the months of September through early June. If you have a pleasant voice and can "carry a tune", we would love to have you join us! Some ability to read music is encouraged, but not required.
Most Blessed Sacrament is proud of having the only active group of Catholic handbell ringers in the Oshkosh area. We ring for several weekend liturgies and feast days as our schedules allow between September and June. The choir currently consists of 10 ringers of varying levels of musical ability sharing a common passion for making music and we are always looking for new members to keep this longtime tradition alive and well in our parish. No prior bell ringing experience is required.
Cantors are skilled singers who volunteer their time and talent to lead the congregation in song at various masses, prayer services or other occasions when needed throughout the calendar year. In addition to singing hymns, they are called to proclaim the Word of God by leading the Responsorial Psalm and Gospel Acclamation, as well as leading the assembly in singing prayerful responses throughout the liturgy. Cantors must possess a pleasant, yet strong voice that can be heard and understood clearly, dress in a manner suitable for serving the Lord this music ministry and be available to rehearse at a mutually agreed upon time for each mass or service.
We are blessed as a parish community to have several volunteer musicians willing to share their time and talent to join our parish organist to further enhance select weekend liturgies, as well as feast days, holy days and other special occasions between September and June. We currently have a very active brass ensemble and occasionally add the sounds of other instruments to join the brass, soloist or small ensemble throughout the year.
