Please join us in extending best wishes to Lyn Zahorik who will be leaving us in search of new opportunities for ministry! See her letter to the parish announcing her departure below:
Dear Friends,
“In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. I Thess. 5:18. On December 31st I will bring my time of ministry at St. Peter/Most Blessed Sacrament, 40 unbelievable years, to an end.
Last November, our Parish Leadership Team, through prayer and discernment felt directed to looking at a new vision and Mission for Most Blessed Sacrament. As part of that process, my hours at Most Blessed Sacrament were reduced from 40 hours per week to 10. During these ensuing months I have spent one day a week at MBS companioning people in Spiritual Direction and maintaining ElderGrace.
Soon after my reduced time at MBS took effect, I received a call from the Parish Director at Sts. Mary Winneconne and Omro asking if I would consider a position with them for 20 hours a week. I began there on December 1, 2020. I began in ministry to the Elderly, but am now being offered opportunities to also work in the development of Liturgy and special projects. Liturgy runs in my blood and being able to think about project development in a creative manner, is a gift I am pleased to be able to use.
Fr. Jerry and I had another discussion this past June about developments at MBS, and together decided that I “take leave” of MBS at the end of this year. Due to my ministry at Sts. Mary, I have not been part of the Most Blessed Sacrament worshiping community or programs for the past ten months. Nonetheless, this time of transition has been hard and bittersweet. I have been at MBS far longer than my original “five year plan.” I have grown to love you as my family, and indeed I have grown through adulthood with you. I have seen men and women whose baptisms I planned, become married and bring their children to Baptism. I have grieved with you, as people who were driving forces in the parish died. I have had the privilege (and challenge) to work with five pastors and more Staff members than I can count, and oh, the changes I have seen in 40 years!
It has been a good and fruitful time for me, in particular some of the phenomenal Liturgies we celebrated together and seeing some of my ideas incorporated into the St. Mary renovation. As long as I have memory in my heart—you will never be forgotten. Our paths will still cross on occasion. I still live in Oshkosh and will continue to commute to Winneconne and Omro. Fr. Jerry also will be continuing to have Rosie spend her weekly visits with “Nanny Lyn” and she is a delight to my heart.
In all things, “Let us rejoice in the Lord always” and in the words of Bishop Stephen Parkes, “We may not see each other in person every day, but may we meet one another each day in our prayer.”
Lyn
