The Celebration of the Lord's Passion will be held at 12:10PM at the St. Peter site. It will also be livestreamed on our parish YouTube Channel:
Veneration of the Cross: In a solemn manner, a wooden cross “on which hung the Savior of the world” is presented. Individuals are invited forward to venerate the Cross.
Service of Communion: Mass is not celebrated, but communion using the hosts consecrated on Holy Thursday is offered. The congregation departs in silence. The altar is stripped and the tabernacle is left empty.
Usually, a large wooden cross is venerated by everyone present with a kiss or by touching it.
This year, our parish will have a First Class Relic of the True Cross present for veneration. Only the priests and deacons will touch or kiss it. When it is time for veneration, you will be invited to take a small wooden cross and touch it to the relic to make a third class relic (which means your cross has been touched to the wood of the cross on which Jesus died) which you can take home with you.
If you are unable to attend the Celebration of the Lord's Passion, but would like a small wooden cross that has been touched to the wood of the cross on which Jesus died, please contact the parish office before Wed, March 31 and we will set one aside for you.
